Do you meet the PMP® Exam requirements?
Earning the PMP® certification is a career-defining milestone, but the first hurdle isn't the exam, it's the application. The Project Management Institute (PMI) has strict criteria for who qualifies, and describing your experience can be trickier than the test itself.
Generally, you fit into one of two categories:
- Degree Holders: Requires a 4-year degree and 36 months of unique, non-overlapping professional project management experience.
- Diploma Holders: Requires a high school diploma (or associate’s degree) and 60 months of unique, non-overlapping professional project management experience.
Why do qualified candidates get rejected?
Often, it’s not because they lack experience, but because they don't describe it in the "PMI language." Your project descriptions need to clearly demonstrate your role across Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing.
